Our trade did not start with a website. It started with Bob Moodie building homes around the district back in the 1950s.
Bob finished his carpentry apprenticeship and, two weeks later, started his own building company, M&D Homes. He built houses across the region for years, and the trade and the work ethic passed down through the family from there.
One job sums him up. A surveyor pegged a house in the wrong spot, and it was built almost to lockup over the neighbour's boundary. Bob did not argue, and he did not go looking for someone to blame. He got all his trades back on site, took the house down, and rebuilt it in the right place. The way the family tells it, in a day.
Own your work, and make it right. That is where our values come from, and they have not shifted since.
Michael and his dad Karl started JF Maintenance in Geelong in 2012, carrying the same standard. The tools have changed, the paperwork has changed, the way you find a tradie has changed. The one thing that has not: if something is not right, we come back and make it right.
It is why around 80 to 90% of our clients call us again, and why we have looked after some of them for more than a decade. We would rather build a relationship that lasts than chase the next job.
Three generations, one standard. That is the whole idea.
