We can build and repair the decks, pergolas and fences on Ocean Grove’s estate homes, from the now sold-out Oakdene to the lots still being titled off Grubb and Banks Roads. Many streets sit under an overlay that counts decks, protects trees or sets the style of a fence, and we plan each job around the one that applies to yours.
Ocean Grove has grown out from the old Methodist grid into estate after estate. Some bring their own rules, and all bring the yard work that follows a handover.
Oakdene is now sold out, and in 2021 its Stage 22 was described as one of the last releases. The older Oakdene homes are coming due for their first round of work: a deck re-oiled or re-boarded, a pergola, built-in robes. Further out, Kingston Haven is selling Stage 3 on lots from about 360 square metres and Ocean Grand has its first stage titled. Small lots mean compact decks and privacy screens, not sprawling alfresco.
In the Goandra Estate the design overlay needs a permit for most fences. Front fences have to be at least 50% see-through, in timber or similar, and no higher than 1.2 metres, while side and rear fences top out at 2 metres in paling or brush. Kingston Coast has its own design guidelines and covenants. We read the rules for your estate before we quote a single paling.
On the hillside streets the landscape overlay counts decks as hard surface, so a big deck can push a block past its 70% limit and trigger a permit. In the significant-tree areas, works inside the drip line of a native tree 3 metres or taller need one too, which is why raised decks on piers often suit. Down in the coastal flood overlay, decks and verandahs up to 20 square metres are exempt.

The same crew the whole way, and a visit afterwards to check it has held.
Beyond our expectations, and it was great to work with people who could turn our ideas into something better than we imagined. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.
Prompt, great communication and a terrific job. Have used JF Maintenance for lots of work over the years and would recommend.
Michael worked with our budget and we were so impressed by their diligence and workmanship. They did not cut corners but went the extra mile. So impressed we engaged them again at another property.
Ocean Grove began as a Methodist settlement modelled on Ocean Grove in New Jersey. In 1887 Charles James and James Grigg bought, surveyed and cut the land into 2,500 blocks, with a covenant against liquor that held for more than a century. The first church service was held on 1 January 1888.
That grid near the beach now sits beside the estates built out towards Grubb and Banks Roads. The 2021 census counted 17,714 residents, and 93% of homes are separate houses. Old blocks being knocked down and rebuilt on one side of town, and new estates handing over on the other, is why the work here runs from repairs to first-time decks.
