New timber fences for Geelong homes: paling fences along the boundary, picket fences out the front, privacy screens around a patio, and the painting or staining that finishes them. We set the posts, build the fence and clean up, and we check the permit and boundary questions before we start.

Most fence jobs are one of these, and a lot of them are two: a new fence and the paint that finishes it.
Post-and-rail fences, rails with mesh for gardens and pets, and spaced timber fences for the front of the house. Posts are concreted in on a string line, so the fence runs straight and the tops follow the ground neatly.
The standard boundary fence: treated pine posts and rails with palings butted or lapped, finished with a capping rail if you want one. We take the old fence down and away first.
Front fences with pointed or square pickets, spaced evenly and set to the height the council allows for a street frontage. Pickets can be primed and painted white or in your house colours.
Horizontal merbau screens around a patio, along a boundary or on top of a low wall. We set the posts and the board gaps so you get the privacy you want and still let the air through.
New fences painted or stained, and old ones brought back with a fresh coat. Pickets are primed before the top coats go on; a paling fence is usually stained.

A fence belongs on the boundary. Where the old fence has wandered or the pegs are gone, a surveyor can mark the line, and that cost is one of the things neighbours usually share.
In Victoria a dividing fence is normally paid for in equal shares. Agree it together, or follow the fencing notice process, before any work starts.
Most back and side fences up to 2 m don’t need a building permit. Front fences have lower limits, and we check with your council if there is any doubt.
Gas, water and power lines often run near a fence line. We look for them before we dig, and where a post can’t go in the usual spot we brace it another way.
