These are the door repairs we see most. Locks, seals and door magnets usually come with them.
Latches that won’t catch, strikers in the wrong spot, closers that slam or won’t pull the door shut, hinges with stripped screws, and handles hanging off. Small jobs, but each one is set up properly so it stays fixed.
A door that rubs at the top of the lock side has usually dropped on its hinges. We tighten or reset the hinges first, then trim only what still rubs, and seal the edge we have cut.
Doors that scrape inside the wall, jump off the track or won’t close fully. We adjust the guides, clear what is catching, and replace rollers that have worn out.
Frames split by a forced entry, rotted at the bottom or damaged by termites. We repair or replace the jamb, refit the trims and paint or stain it to match.
Screws chew out the timber behind them and the door sags. We fix into solid timber with longer screws, or pack and reset the hinge.
Settling and dry summers push frames out of square. We rehang the door to suit the frame as it is now, and cut it down where the gap has closed.
Layers of paint and moisture in the timber add thickness. We take back the tight edges and seal them.
A screw standing proud inside a cavity frame, a bent guide or a worn roller will stop a slider every time. Finding it is most of the job.
Sometimes the frame itself is wrong for the door. If adjusting won’t solve it, we say so and measure up for a replacement instead.
