We repair and update Grovedale’s 1960s to 1990s homes, finish the yards on the newer houses near Waurn Ponds station, and can look after rentals for owners and managers. Grovedale grew estate by estate from the Surf Coast Highway west, and each street’s age tells you what it needs.
Grovedale filled from east to west over about 30 years. Knowing roughly when a street was built tells us what usually needs doing.
Grovedale’s first housing estates went in during the early 1960s, branching off the Surf Coast Highway. Those houses are now around 60 years old: original windows and doors at the end of their life, decks and verandahs added decades ago that need rebuilding, and wet areas that need retiling alongside the carpentry.
Through the 1970s, 80s and 90s Grovedale spread west along Church Street, Pioneer Road and Heyers Road. Those homes are 30 to 50 years old, which is when timber pergolas, first-generation decks and fences come due, and when a family starts thinking about a bigger living area out the back.
Hillview Heights on Jockia Ridge is selling about 800 metres from Waurn Ponds station, and the Marshall growth plan next door was approved in April 2026. New homes need everything outside built. About a quarter of Grovedale’s homes were rented at the 2021 census, and we do repairs and maintenance for landlords and property managers as well as owners.

Michael worked with our budget and we were so impressed by their diligence and workmanship. They did not cut corners but went the extra mile. So impressed we engaged them again at another property.
Beyond our expectations, and it was great to work with people who could turn our ideas into something better than we imagined. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.
Prompt, great communication and a terrific job. Have used JF Maintenance for lots of work over the years and would recommend.
Grovedale was first called Germantown, after the German Lutheran families who settled here in 1849. For a time the area was Victoria’s largest wine-producing district, until phylloxera arrived in the early 1870s. After anti-German feeling during the First World War, the post office was renamed Grovedale on 1 March 1916.
Housing estates started in the early 1960s and kept spreading west for three decades. The 2021 census counted 14,869 residents, with about a quarter of homes rented. A suburb built street by street over 30 years is why the work here follows the age of the house.
