We can repair weatherboards, verandahs and doors on Linton’s old timber cottages and rural homes. Nearly half of Linton’s addresses are under the Bushfire Management Overlay, and the main street is a heritage precinct.
Linton is a small gold-era town on the Glenelg Highway, with old shop buildings on Sussex Street, timber cottages and farms around it.
The heritage listing for Linton’s town centre notes that many shop buildings survive from the later nineteenth century, along with a small timber house on Sussex Street. Township blocks are typically about 2,000 square metres. Older weatherboards need restumping, board and verandah repairs and doors that close properly again.
The Linton Heritage Precinct has no paint or fence controls, but St Peter’s church, the former Presbyterian church, the library and Linton Park homestead do. The Avenue of Honour on Denison Street and the reserve pines are protected, so removing or lopping those trees needs a permit.
All of Linton is bushfire prone, and the Bushfire Management Overlay covers 48% of addresses. An extension adding no more than half the floor area, or an outbuilding under 100 square metres that goes with the house and isn’t used for accommodation, needs no bushfire permit. At the 2021 census 16% of homes weren’t lived in full-time, and we can look after them while owners are away.

Beyond our expectations, and it was great to work with people who could turn our ideas into something better than we imagined. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.
Prompt, great communication and a terrific job. Have used JF Maintenance for lots of work over the years and would recommend.
Michael worked with our budget and we were so impressed by their diligence and workmanship. They did not cut corners but went the extra mile. So impressed we engaged them again at another property.
Linton was first a pastoral run taken up by Joseph Linton in 1838, and became Linton’s Diggings when gold was found on the property in 1854. The Grenville shire hall and offices opened here in 1865.
The 2021 census counted 635 residents with a median age of 48. Old timber cottages, a heritage main street and fire rules are why the work here is careful repair.
Linton borders Pittong, Happy Valley, Snake Valley, Scarsdale, Mannibadar and Chepstowe.
