We have done 27 jobs in Grovedale, 18 of them for businesses and facility managers, from a staff kitchen rebuild to storm-damaged ceilings and replacement outside doors. Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre, which despite its name sits in Grovedale, anchors the suburb’s trade.
Grovedale mixes a regional shopping centre, a trade and industrial strip, care homes, clinics and a cluster of schools.
Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre on Pioneer Road is officially in Grovedale, whatever the signs say. It has 48,643 square metres of floor space, 119 specialty shops, Woolworths, Coles, Target, Kmart and a cinema, and was last redeveloped in 2014. Its land carries no planning overlays. A centre this size keeps tenancies turning over, and every changeover means partitions, counters, doors and back-of-house repairs.
About 17.5 hectares of industrial land runs along Essington Street, Lewalan Street and Marshalltown Road, with 16.6 hectares of trade and showroom land beside it on Capital Drive, Dendle Street and Grove Road. On the industrial land a solid street fence over 1.5 metres needs a permit, as does one in unpainted galvanised steel or uncoated wire. Through facility managers we rebuilt a distribution site’s staff kitchen cabinets, came out after a 2022 storm to pull down wet ceiling tiles, and on another commercial building replaced a water-damaged ceiling and two outside doors.
GMHBA’s South Barwon Medical Centre opened on Torquay Road in July 2026 with six GP rooms, a physio room and a three-bed treatment room. Grovedale also has four aged-care homes, Grovedale College, four primary schools and a Saints College campus. Grovedale West Primary’s $6.559 million building, finished in 2024, won an award for First Nations design. Health and school buildings need doors, rails and fixtures kept in good order.

Prompt, great communication and a terrific job. Have used JF Maintenance for lots of work over the years and would recommend.
Beyond our expectations, and it was great to work with people who could turn our ideas into something better than we imagined. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.
Michael worked with our budget and we were so impressed by their diligence and workmanship. They did not cut corners but went the extra mile. So impressed we engaged them again at another property.
In the mid-1860s, as Germantown, the district had two flour mills, two tanneries, four wool-washing works and two hotels. It stayed mostly farmland until the mid-1960s.
Town and Country Shopping World opened in 1985 with a discount department store, two supermarkets and 40 shops. Now the suburb holds a regional shopping centre, a trade strip and growing health services, so the commercial work is steady and varied.
