We can fit out and repair the Vines Road and Fairlie Street shops and maintain Hamlyn Heights’ schools and community buildings, and we have done kitchen, laundry and bathroom work for builders in Hamlyn Heights.
Hamlyn Heights’ commercial life is a strip of shops on Vines Road, a smaller group on Fairlie Street, and a cluster of schools and community buildings.
Much of our work here has been for builders: installing a kitchen and packing out a warped slider jamb, laundry carpentry with tile underlay and plaster, tiling a bathroom with two niches and fitting a shower screen and cavity slider, fitting plaster tear-away trim to kitchen cupboards and fitting reed glass to a door. Among our 11 Hamlyn Heights jobs, builders were the biggest single source of work.
Western Heights Secondary College on Vines Road has a new competition-grade gym, Hamlyn Views School opened in 2018 for nearly 170 students with a further upgrade forecast to finish in late 2025, Hamlyn Banks Primary was upgraded in 2019, and Herne Hill Primary, which sits in Hamlyn Heights, got a synthetic oval in 2022. Schools that keep building need joinery and repairs between the big projects.
The Vines Road shopping zone runs from about 63 to 119 Vines Road, with more shops on Fairlie Street. Council’s Vines Road housing diversity area encourages buildings of up to three storeys around them. The Vines Road community centre, seniors club, maternal and child health centre and an aged-care home are close by too.

Prompt, great communication and a terrific job. Have used JF Maintenance for lots of work over the years and would recommend.
Michael worked with our budget and we were so impressed by their diligence and workmanship. They did not cut corners but went the extra mile. So impressed we engaged them again at another property.
Beyond our expectations, and it was great to work with people who could turn our ideas into something better than we imagined. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.
Hamlyn Heights grew through the 1950s and 1960s, and the secondary college opened as Bell Park High School in 1961; it is now Western Heights College.
Townhouses have gone up on some older blocks, and council has marked the Vines Road area for more housing around the shops.
