North Geelong is where we work most: 108 jobs, 100 of them commercial. Much of it is doors, locks, signage and steady maintenance for a health provider, alongside safety repairs at a large industrial site and door work for a water authority.
Two hundred hectares of industry, a port, health and care buildings and a converted woollen mill make North Geelong the suburb where we do the most commercial work.
Since 2019 we have done 59 jobs for a health provider here. We have installed a fire door, replaced plant-room and switchboard doors with weather hoods, fitted closers, vision panels and finger guards, put up curtain tracks and about 40 flyscreens, and installed 20 posts and 92 signs for new wayfinding. When the maintenance team is short, we supply fill-in labour for a few days or a fortnight.
Between November 2024 and January 2025 we did a run of 21 jobs at one large industrial site: a safety gate at the top of a ladder, step treads, a traffic hump, posts re-concreted with new bolts, switch-room doors and stripped locks. For a water authority we have rehung and replaced doors, and for facility managers we have sealed box-gutter leaks, relaid pavers and replaced drain filters.
Federal Mills, first built in 1915, now holds offices, cafés, a brewery, a distillery and a gym, with vacancies listed from 220 to 630 square metres. Hamilton Group has council approval for 29 tenancies in the Henderson’s building on Corio Quay Road. At the former saleyards, rezoned mainly for housing, each shop is capped at 150 square metres and all shops together at 1,800. On industrial land, a street fence needs a permit if it is solid and over 1.5 metres, or unpainted galvanised steel or uncoated wire.

Prompt, great communication and a terrific job. Have used JF Maintenance for lots of work over the years and would recommend.
Beyond our expectations, and it was great to work with people who could turn our ideas into something better than we imagined. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.
Michael worked with our budget and we were so impressed by their diligence and workmanship. They did not cut corners but went the extra mile. So impressed we engaged them again at another property.
A gasworks ran on Victoria and Douro Streets from 1858 to 1971, with a rail link to the port. Target began in Geelong in 1925 as Lindsay’s and later ran its head office from Thompson Road, until it announced in 2017 that it would leave.
Federal Mills opened in 1915 and soon became one of the region’s biggest employers. The suburb still has 1,096 addresses zoned for industry, which is why nearly all our North Geelong work is commercial.
