We have done 15 commercial jobs in and around Little River, from bollards and washroom repairs at the two Princes Freeway service centres (the Geelong-bound one is officially in Avalon) to outdoor furniture, seating and hoarding for builders. The school, the reserve pavilion and large rural sites need the same kind of work.
Little River’s commercial side is a small township, a freeway service centre, a vehicle proving ground, a youth justice centre, quarries and a battery project, spread over 18,000 hectares.
Ten of our 15 Little River jobs were at the Princes Freeway service centres. The Melbourne-bound one is in Little River and the Geelong-bound one is officially in Avalon. We replaced a steel bollard on the Melbourne-bound side and set it with chemical anchors, and across the two sites fitted a toilet door lock and fixed seats and roll holders, replaced a 3.35 metre mirror with the bathroom closed off for safety, reattached a security stand and an air-conditioning grille, and fitted entry mats. Busy public sites need repairs done fast and safely.
For builders we have installed outdoor furniture and BBQ side panels, put vents in a door before 7 am, built a garden seat with a treated-pine frame and composite decking to match an existing one, and put up hoarding. Builders working on big rural sites need carpentry that turns up early and finishes on time.
Ford’s You Yangs proving ground, about 232 hectares, is inside Little River, and the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre, with 140 beds, opened in 2023. Little River Primary School received $499,239 to refurbish its toilets, Wyndham has finished a $1.6 million pavilion retrofit at the reserve, and a 770 megawatt-hour battery was approved in 2025. Quarries and a landfill round out a working rural district.

Little River began with the Travellers Rest Inn in about 1840, with a township surveyed in 1852 and a railway station built in 1857. Small farmers once grazed an 8,000 hectare common here.
A freeway service centre, a proving ground, a justice centre, quarries and a battery project are why the commercial work here is bigger than the township suggests.
