We have done 27 jobs in Lara, from solid-core doors at a utility site to new door hardware for a project manager. Warehouse plans on Heales Road and a business park rezoning now with the Minister could bring more industrial buildings to fit out and maintain.
Lara’s business land sits in three spots: the Ring Road precinct, a small estate beside the town centre, and the shops on The Centreway and Waverley Road.
The Geelong Ring Road Employment Precinct takes in about 270 hectares of industrial land around Heales Road, Kinetic Court, Production Way and Broderick Road, set aside for advanced manufacturing. Kinetic Lara released three titled lots at 220 Heales Road in May 2026, and plans for 12 warehouses on 130 Heales Road were filed in 2025. Under the precinct’s design rules a street fence needs a permit only when it is solid or taller than 1.5 metres, and loading and outdoor storage belong behind or inside buildings.
Most of our 7 commercial jobs in Lara have been doors. At a utility site we swapped the doors for solid-core ones, refitted the sensor magnets and put up a new Colorbond gutter and downpipe. At a secure site, working through the site-services contractor, we hung three doors and built steps with grab rails. Through a project manager we assessed and replaced a broken door-hold magnet, and for a facility manager we sealed and painted a leak-stained ceiling after roof tiles were replaced.
Lara’s shopping zone covers 4.78 hectares on The Centreway and Waverley Road, and its expansion area’s design rules encourage strip shopping, active shopfronts, flood-free buildings and a small number of signs built into the façade. Closer in, about 12.7 hectares of industrial land and 4.4 hectares of trade land sit on McClelland Avenue, Industry Court and Hicks Street, where workshops need partitions, doors and repairs.

Michael worked with our budget and we were so impressed by their diligence and workmanship. They did not cut corners but went the extra mile. So impressed we engaged them again at another property.
Beyond our expectations, and it was great to work with people who could turn our ideas into something better than we imagined. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.
Prompt, great communication and a terrific job. Have used JF Maintenance for lots of work over the years and would recommend.
The station was first called Duck Ponds, and the Melbourne to Geelong railway has passed through Lara since 1857. The town was the Corio Shire’s administrative centre until offices opened in Geelong North in 1937.
Barwon Prison opened in 1990, and Western Plains Correctional Centre joined Barwon, Marngoneet and Karreenga in June 2025. Today four prisons and a large industrial precinct sit alongside the town centre.
