We have rescrewed a roof, refixed a flashing and replaced a suspended ceiling for Meredith clients, and can maintain its halls, churches, school, clubrooms and Staughton Street shops. Council has named Meredith as the next growth town once sewerage arrives.
Meredith’s commercial side is a small strip on Staughton Street and the highway, and a full set of country-town community buildings.
All of our 3 Meredith jobs were commercial: reattaching a corner flashing whose nails had pulled out, removing every old roofing nail on a building and replacing them with sealed hex-head screws, and taking out suspended ceiling tiles and fitting acoustic, vinyl-faced ones. Nailed roofs on older buildings loosen in the wind.
The post office, pub, store and roadhouse sit along Staughton Street and the Midland Highway, and the Meredith Heritage Precinct on Staughton Street takes in gold-rush stores, timber shops and bluestone buildings. The precinct has no paint controls, but the station, former shire hall and churches do, and a design overlay over much of the town lists no exemptions for buildings.
The primary school and kindergarten, Memorial Hall, CFA and police stations, three churches, the cricket and recreation reserve, the golf club and the motorcycle club are all in Meredith. The multi playspace was funded with $900,000 from the state and council. Council’s strategy suggests a future structure plan consider an industrial precinct for larger land users.

Michael worked with our budget and we were so impressed by their diligence and workmanship. They did not cut corners but went the extra mile. So impressed we engaged them again at another property.
Beyond our expectations, and it was great to work with people who could turn our ideas into something better than we imagined. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.
Prompt, great communication and a terrific job. Have used JF Maintenance for lots of work over the years and would recommend.
Meredith was surveyed in 1851–52 and the Geelong to Ballarat railway opened through the town in 1862. The bluestone station and the 1878 shire hall still stand.
A highway strip, a heritage main street and a full set of halls, clubs and churches are why the commercial work here is community maintenance.
