Seventeen of our 18 Anglesea jobs were commercial: panic bars and locks on plant-room doors, fascia and brick repairs, an acoustic office wall and a rotted door replaced for a health service. The tightly held town centre and a small industrial estate keep the coastal work coming.
Anglesea’s businesses cluster in the Great Ocean Road shopping centre and the Inverlochy Street industrial estate, with aged care, community buildings, clubs and utility plants around them.
On plant and switch rooms we have replaced a failing panic bar with a rim panic latch and top and bottom rods, renewed a rotted mortice lock on a pump-room door, and re-set a comms-room lock so it locks from outside with free egress inside. At a water authority site we replaced 17 metres of fascia, re-flashed it to the roof, and fitted indicator bolts and passage sets.
We built an acoustic timber-framed wall with a solid door, insulation and two layers of soundproof plaster, replaced a rotted door with new hinges and a closer for a health service, raised an awning and flashed behind it, and repointed about 22 metres of brick on a shed. For a home-care provider we built four steps and a landing at a client’s front door.
The shopping centre zone is 1.0 hectare with 47 addresses, and a May 2025 market report called it very tightly held. Its design overlay sets a 7.5 metre height limit, asks for at least 10% solid material to glass below the verandah, and won’t support illuminated signs above verandah level, pole signs or promotion signs. The industrial estate allows 8 metres with a 10 metre front setback.

Michael worked with our budget and we were so impressed by their diligence and workmanship. They did not cut corners but went the extra mile. So impressed we engaged them again at another property.
Beyond our expectations, and it was great to work with people who could turn our ideas into something better than we imagined. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.
Prompt, great communication and a terrific job. Have used JF Maintenance for lots of work over the years and would recommend.
More shops and tea rooms opened before World War II, and the surf club formed in 1952. Alcoa began building a mine and power station six years after exploratory mining in 1958; the open cut and power station of 1969 sit behind the town, and in 2014 Alcoa put them up for sale.
The former Alcoa land is now in remediation, and by August 2026 council had appointed an architect for the McMillan Street community and health hub, with building money still to be found. A small strip, a busy coast and utility plants are why the work here is mostly repair and upkeep.
