HOW WE HELP JAN JUC BUSINESSES

What Jan Juc sites need from us

Apart from the Princes Terrace shops, Jan Juc’s commercial buildings are a private P–12 campus, the Torquay Golf Club, the surf club and a reserve pavilion.

Doors and locks for utilities

For a water authority we have installed stainless double and single doors at one site and fitted plate-type handles and locking to a main door and double doors at another. We refixed a stainless door with new bolts and a repaired cylinder, and swapped double external doors for solid-core doors with panic bolts, plus a single door with a new mortice lock.

A toilet refit and roof edges

We refitted a commercial toilet: door and lock made good, indicator bolts, painting, an epoxy floor, and new dispensers and holders. On another building we cleaned gutters, laminated rotten rafter ends, replaced fascia and an eave sheet and refitted the gutter with a guard. One lock call-out turned out to be a faulty key.

The shops and the clubs

The Princes Terrace strip is 0.4 hectares with 31 addresses, described as the town’s only commercial centre. Christian College’s Surf Coast campus added Year 7 classrooms with $1.8 million of federal money in 2025, and the Torquay Golf Club actually sits on the Jan Juc side of Spring Creek. Over half of the shopping zone is bushfire-prone.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

What our clients say

Beyond our expectations, and it was great to work with people who could turn our ideas into something better than we imagined. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

Julie Mortimer

Prompt, great communication and a terrific job. Have used JF Maintenance for lots of work over the years and would recommend.

David Meade

Michael worked with our budget and we were so impressed by their diligence and workmanship. They did not cut corners but went the extra mile. So impressed we engaged them again at another property.

JAN JUC QUESTIONS

Commercial carpentry in Jan Juc — common questions

Is Jan Juc too small for a commercial carpenter?
Not for us. The town has one shopping strip, but we have done 10 jobs here and 23 in Torquay next door.
Can you refit a public or staff toilet?
Yes. We have refitted one in Jan Juc, with an epoxy floor, indicator bolts, new dispensers and the door and lock made good.
Can you replace exit doors with panic hardware?
We can. Here we replaced double external doors with solid-core doors and panic bolts.
Are the shops in a bushfire area?
Partly. About 55% of the Princes Terrace commercial zone is bushfire-prone, and a Bushfire Management Overlay covers 250 hectares of the locality. We check before any outside work.
Do you work at schools and clubs?
We can. We’d fit around class times, games and events, and give a written quote a committee can approve.
DOING BUSINESS IN JAN JUC

Jan Juc then and now

Jan Juc began to be developed as a coastal township in the mid-1960s, and by 1992 it had nearly 1,200 dwellings. Apart from a small neighbourhood shopping centre, shopping is done in Torquay or further afield.

The boardwalk contract for the Jan Juc Creek daylighting project was awarded in April 2026, and the coast authority has tendered to replace the beach access ramp. One small strip, a busy campus and the clubs keep the work here practical and local.
