Belmont is one of our busiest suburbs, with 68 jobs and 44 of them commercial. We cleaned a branch’s gutters on a regular round from 2021 to 2025, keep up a health service’s sites and have made schools safe after ceiling failures.
High Street is a sub-regional shopping centre, with a 20-hectare industrial estate off Settlement Road and a cluster of health, aged-care and school sites around it.
For a health service we have done 16 jobs in Belmont: gates cut and fitted with lock boxes so they lock from outside but open from inside, a secure-room door adjusted and fitted with a drop seal, shower screens swapped for curtain rails in residential units, mouldy silicone redone across six units, custom no-parking signs and loose paving relaid.
From 2021 to 2025 we cleaned a bank branch’s gutters 15 times. After a break-in at a branch site we refixed an emergency-exit drop bolt and assessed the door frame and quoted a replacement door. For schools we propped a failing boundary fence and re-hung a sagging plaster ceiling, and through a facility manager we repaired a water-infrastructure enclosure door and fixed shelving in a pump room.
Plans lodged in July 2024 show a larger Coles and Liquorland at 159–162 High Street over a 161-space basement. A mixed-use building at 107–123 High Street, lodged with shops, a medical centre and a gym on the ground floor, was reported approved in July 2026 with five storeys removed. In the industrial estate, a solid street fence over 1.5 metres, or one of unpainted galvanised steel or uncoated wire, needs a permit.

By 1865 Belmont had three hotels, a flour mill, tanneries, fellmongeries and a court of petty sessions. The shops on High Street, then the Princes Highway, stayed small until 1936.
Kmart opened a drive-in centre just north of the strip in 1970, and CSIRO ran a textiles research centre on the highway from 1958 to 2010. The planning scheme now ranks High Street as a sub-regional centre.
